Studio Conditions
×Intro
In consideration of receiving a tattoo from North Ink Tattoo, including its artists, associates, apprentices, agents, or any employees (hereinafter referred to as the "Tattoo Studio"), I agree to the following:
Risks
I have been fully informed of the inherent risks associated with getting a tattoo. Therefore, I fully understand that these risks, known and unknown, can lead to injury including but not limited to: infection, scarring, difficulties in the detection of melanoma, and allergic reactions to tattoo pigment, latex gloves, and/or soap. Having been informed of the potential risks associated with getting a tattoo, I wish to proceed with the tattoo procedure and application and freely accept and expressly assume any and all risks that may arise from tattooing.
Waiver
I WAIVE AND RELEASE to the fullest extent permitted by law any person of the Tattoo Studio from all liability whatsoever, including but not limited to any and all claims or causes of action that I, my estate, heirs, executors, or assigns may have for personal injury or otherwise, including any direct and/or consequential damages, which result or arise from the procedure and application of my tattoo, whether caused by the negligence or fault of either the Tattoo Studio or otherwise.
Questions
The Tattoo Studio has given me the full opportunity to ask any questions about the procedure and application of my tattoo, and all of my questions, if any, have been answered to my total satisfaction.
Instructions
The Tattoo Studio has given me instructions on the care of my tattoo while it is healing. I understand and will follow them. I acknowledge that it is possible that the tattoo can become infected, particularly if I do not follow the instructions given to me. If any touch-up work to the tattoo is needed due to my own negligence, I agree that the work will be done at my own expense.
Alcohol and Drugs
I am not under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and I am voluntarily submitting to be tattooed by the Tattoo Studio without duress or coercion.
Photos
I release the right to any photographs taken of me and the tattoo and give consent in advance to their reproduction in print or electronic form. (If you do not consent to this provision, please inform The Tattoo Studio NOT to take any pictures of you and your completed tattoo).
Refund
I agree that The Tattoo Studio has a NO REFUND policy on tattoos, piercings, and/or retail sales, and I will not ask for a refund for any reason whatsoever.
Fees
I agree to reimburse The Tattoo Studio for any attorneys' fees and costs incurred in any legal action I bring against the Tattoo Studio in which either the Artist or the Tattoo Studio is the prevailing party. I agree that the courts located in the City of Vancouver within the Province of British Columbia shall have jurisdiction and venue over me and shall have exclusive jurisdiction for the purposes of litigating any dispute arising out of or related to this agreement.
Color
Variations in color and design may exist between the tattoo art I have selected and the actual tattoo when it is applied to my body. I also understand that over time, the colors and the clarity of my tattoo will fade due to unprotected exposure to the sun and the naturally occurring dispersion of pigment under the skin.
Illnesses
I do not suffer from diabetes, epilepsy, hemophilia, heart conditions, nor do I take blood thinning medication. I do not have any other medical or skin condition that may interfere with the procedure, application, or healing of the tattoo. I am not the recipient of an organ or bone marrow transplant or, if I am, I have taken the prescribed preventative regimen of antibiotics that is required by my doctor in advance of any invasive procedure such as tattooing. I am not pregnant or nursing. I do not have a mental impairment that may affect my judgment in getting the tattoo.
Laser and Removal
A tattoo is a permanent change to my appearance and can only be removed by laser or surgical means, which can be disfiguring and/or costly and which in all likelihood will not result in the restoration of my skin to its exact appearance before being tattooed.
Spelling
The Tattoo Studio is not responsible for the meaning or spelling of the symbol or text that I have provided to them or chosen from the flash (design) sheets.
Age
I hereby declare that I am of legal age (and have provided valid proof of age and identification) and am competent to sign this Agreement.
Healing Instructions
×General Rules
A tattoo is an open wound, and it is crucial to keep it clean and free from infection during the healing process. Follow these general rules:
- Do Not Use Hydrogen Peroxide: Never use hydrogen peroxide on your tattoo.
- Avoid Bandages: Do not wrap your tattoo in any bandages once the initial covering is removed.
- Balance Moisture: Keep the tattoo properly moisturized—not too dry and not too moist.
Healing Guidelines
There are a few healing approaches we recommend, depending on our evaluation and the client's preference. You may choose the option that best suits your needs from those provided below:
Option 1: Plastic Wrap (Ceram Wrap) Approach
- Initial Wrap: After the tattoo procedure, we will clean the area and wrap it with plastic wrap (ceram wrap).
- Remove Wrap: The plastic wrap should be removed after 2 hours.
- Cleaning: Once removed, clean the tattoo area gently with warm water and soap.
- Drying: Gently pat the tattoo dry with a clean towel.
- Apply Disinfecting Cream: Apply a disinfecting cream such as Bepanthen Plus. You may use any disinfecting cream, but Bepanthen Plus is our recommendation.
- Duration: Continue applying the cream for 1 week, 2-3 times per day.
Option 2: Second Skin Approach
- Initial Application: We will apply Second Skin (a transparent bandage) directly to your tattoo.
- Remove Second Skin: This should be removed after a maximum of 3 days.
- Cleaning: After removal, clean the tattoo with warm water and soap. We recommend removing the Second Skin in a warm shower for ease.
- Apply Disinfecting Cream: Apply a disinfecting cream for the following week.
- Peeling: If any part of the Second Skin starts peeling off prematurely, please remove it entirely, clean the tattoo with soap, and apply disinfecting cream to avoid infection.
Option 3: Tattoo Pads for Larger Color Projects
- Purpose: Tattoo pads are highly recommended for large color projects. These pads help absorb fluids like blood and plasma, which reduces scabbing and promotes better healing.
- Initial Application: After the tattoo process, we will apply disinfecting cream and cover the tattoo with a pad.
- Pad Replacement: Replace the pad after 4 hours.
- Replacement Procedure: Remove the used pad, wash the tattoo with warm water and soap, apply disinfecting cream, and cover with a new pad.
- Duration: Repeat this process for 24 hours, and continue until there is no more residue visible on the pad.
What to Do in Case of Infection
- Signs of Infection: If your tattoo continues to hurt for several days and shows signs of yellow or greenish discharge, please contact us or your doctor immediately for further guidance.
- Stay Calm: Infections do happen, but as long as they are addressed promptly, they can be managed without severe consequences.
- Touch-Up Likely Needed: If an infection occurs, you may require a touch-up after the tattoo is fully healed.
- Consult a Doctor: You may need antibiotics if an infection occurs, which we cannot prescribe. Please contact your doctor or visit an emergency room if necessary.
- Emergency Room: If your doctor is not available within a reasonable timeframe, please visit the ER to seek treatment.
Additional Recommendations
- Pain Management: It is normal for the tattoo to be sore for a few days. You may take over-the-counter pain relief such as acetaminophen if needed. Avoid medications like ibuprofen or aspirin as they may increase bleeding.
- Avoid Excessive Exercise: Refrain from heavy exercise or sweating for the first week as it can introduce bacteria to the healing tattoo or cause irritation.
- Patch Test for Disinfecting Cream: Perform a patch test of the disinfecting cream on a small area of skin before applying it to the tattoo to check for allergic reactions.
- Avoid Friction: Avoid activities that create friction on the tattooed area, such as cycling or wearing tight clothing, as it may damage the healing skin.
- Sleep Precautions: Try to sleep in a position that avoids direct pressure on the tattooed area to reduce irritation during the healing process.
- Allergic Reactions: Be aware of potential allergic reactions to disinfecting creams. If you notice any redness, swelling, or rash, stop using the product and consult a doctor. You may need to switch to a different cream.
- Do Not Scratch: Avoid scratching or picking at your tattoo while it heals, as this can lead to scarring and negatively affect the final result.
- Itchiness Management: If your tattoo becomes itchy, gently tap on it or use a cool compress to alleviate the itchiness. Do not scratch under any circumstances.
- Aftercare Products: After the first week, consider using a suitable moisturizer, such as an unscented lotion or a specialized tattoo aftercare product, to keep your skin hydrated.
- Hydration and Diet: Staying hydrated and maintaining a balanced diet can help boost your body's ability to heal.
- Avoid Direct Sunlight: Protect your healing tattoo from direct sunlight, as UV rays can negatively affect the healing process and cause color fading.
- Avoid Swimming: Avoid swimming in pools, hot tubs, or open water until your tattoo is fully healed, as these environments can introduce bacteria and cause infections.
- Loose Clothing: Wear loose clothing over the tattoo area to allow it to breathe and prevent irritation.
